LEEDS MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR STRANGLING ESTRANGED WIFE
A violent and heartbreaking incident saw 37-year-old Satpreet Singh Gandhi convicted of murdering his estranged wife, Harleen Kaur Satpreet Gandhi, in Leeds.
The court was informed that Gandhi purchased a kitchen knife shortly before the attack and used it to cause fatal injuries to his wife in her own home.
The assault occurred on September 5, 2022, when Gandhi lured her outside her flat located on Victoria Road in Headingley, then attacked her, delivering a single stab wound to her chest.
Harleen Kaur Gandhi, who was 32 years old, was found badly injured and died later after being rushed to hospital.
Gandhi pleaded guilty to the charge of murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 23 years and four months in jail at Leeds Crown Court.
Investigations revealed that Gandhi’s jealousy and anger had increased, with accusations of cheating and sorrow over their separation.
Leading up to the attack, he was seen lingering outside her residence multiple times, and police uncovered a letter at his address that read: "This is my revenge for the humiliation and disrespect." The court described Gandhi’s actions as premeditated and horrific, highlighting the devastating impact on their children who lost both their mother and father in such a traumatic manner.
