CHILD RAPIST SAPTARSHI MITRA FACES LENGTHY JAIL TERM IN BIRMINGHAM
A Birmingham man who admitted more than 13 sexual offences against a child, including rape, is facing a lengthy prison sentence.Saptarshi Mitra, aged 42, from Ashfield Avenue, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on 7 July.
He faced 13 sexual offence charges with the most serious being two counts of rape.
During the court proceedings, Mitra changed his pleas from not guilty to guilty on all charges.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
Mitra's abuse of his victim spanned several years until the victim bravely came forward to report the incidents.
Authorities also seized his mobile phone, which contained indecent images related to the case.
Detective Sergeant Claire Hankinson, from the Complex Child Abuse Investigation Team, highlighted Mitra's exploitation and the victim's courage in coming forward, expressing hope that her bravery would encourage others to report similar abuse.
The report notes that Mitra had been abusing the victim for multiple years and now faces a possibly long jail term.
He appeared in court and pleaded guilty to all charges, with sentencing scheduled for September.
