SAMUEL MCGREGOR RAPE SCANDAL SHAKES LONDON AND LONDON COLNEY POLICE FORCE

A police officer from the Metropolitan Police, Samuel McGregor, has been convicted of a serious criminal offense involving sexual assault, following a thorough investigation by detectives.

Samuel McGregor, aged 33 and previously affiliated with the Central North Command Unit, faced trial at Inner London Crown Court. The court proceedings culminated in a guilty verdict for the charge of rape on Friday, 24 January. This conviction came after a trial that included a plea of not guilty by McGregor on 23 June 2023, during which he initially denied the allegations.

The case drew significant attention from police authorities and the public alike. Chief Superintendent Andy Carter, who oversees policing operations in the Central North area, expressed his outrage and disappointment regarding McGregor’s conduct. He stated, “I am appalled by Samuel McGregor’s reprehensible conduct and the suffering he has inflicted upon the victim.”

He emphasized that such behavior has no place within the Metropolitan Police Service and assured that efforts to identify and discipline such individuals would continue unabated. “There is simply no place for individuals like Samuel McGregor in the Met, and we will continue to root out such vile individuals,” Carter declared.

Chief Superintendent Carter also praised the officers involved in the investigation, highlighting their professionalism and compassion. He noted that the officers conducted detailed interviews and collected forensic evidence that demonstrated the extent of the abuse, ultimately building a strong case against McGregor. He expressed hope that the conviction would bring some measure of closure to the victim.

The court proceedings revealed that the victim, who was known to McGregor, was raped on 11 May 2021 at an address in London. The victim later confided in colleagues about the incident, prompting them to report it to the police on her behalf on 2 June 2021. Following this report, Samuel McGregor was swiftly arrested the next day on suspicion of rape.

In addition to the criminal proceedings, McGregor is expected to face a misconduct hearing, which will be scheduled in due course. The sentencing hearing is set for Monday, 10 March.

Further developments include McGregor’s suspension from duty on full pay, which was initiated on 3 March 2022 after he admitted to lying during a police interview.

Most recently, on Tuesday, 15 April, McGregor appeared at Inner London Court, where he was sentenced to four years and six months in prison. This follows an accelerated misconduct hearing held on Thursday, 27 February 2025, during which he was dismissed from the police force without notice. Additionally, he has been placed on the barred list maintained by the College of Policing, which prohibits him from employment within police services, local policing bodies, or related oversight agencies. This measure aims to prevent him from re-entering law enforcement or related fields in the future.
