BEN WEBB SENTENCED IN HOLSWORTHY FOR SERIES OF VIOLENT OFFENSES AGAINST GIRLFRIEND
Ben Webb, aged 38, has been convicted of multiple violent and abusive acts directed at his girlfriend. Webb, who met the woman in a bar and later invited himself on a holiday to Tenerife with her, exhibited aggressive tendencies shortly after commencing their relationship. The court was told that Webb subjected his partner to various forms of violence, including strangulation, punching, hair-pulling, and cutting her face with a potato peeler. The woman described his behavior as 'mental torture' and expressed that she felt she no longer recognized herself. She also revealed that Webb pressured her to dress down in public to prevent jealousy, stating he didn't want her to look better than him. The most serious assault occurred on November 3 of the previous year at Woodford Bridge Country Club in Holsworthy, where Webb attacked his partner by pulling her ear hard, causing severe bruising, yanking out her hair, and throwing a full glass aftershave bottle at her head, which knocked her out and resulted in heavy bleeding. Webb later lied to the police about the incident. Five days afterward, while staying in Westward Ho!, Webb, despite promising not to drink or take drugs, arrived already intoxicated. He became enraged when she discarded his cocaine, insulting her as a 'slag,' spitting at her, and holding a metal potato peeler to her head. He also punched her in the jaw and cut her nose. Webb was arrested after an incident at a bar where he flipped a table and the victim mouthed that she needed help. The victim explained she had started 'dulling herself down so he could feel better,' as Webb often criticized her appearance, stating he didn't want her looking too attractive. Webb pleaded guilty to charges including intentional strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH), and criminal damage. He has a history of violence, with prior convictions in 2016 and 2021 for violent offenses and a pattern of abusing women. The judge described Webb as 'an imminent risk' to women and imposed a 20-year restraining order preventing him from having any contact with the victim.
