SAMUEL FROST FROM LEEDS SENTENCED FOR MULTIPLE OFFENSES AT GARFORTH BUS STOPS
Samuel Frost, a heavily-built individual with a long history of crimes against children, was involved in a series of disturbing incidents in Leeds, specifically around the Garforth area. His criminal activities included assaulting two young teenagers at bus stops on Main Street, where he was residing at the time.
The first incident occurred early in the morning on February 15 of the previous year, when Frost approached a 16-year-old girl waiting at a bus stop outside the Coral bookmakers on Main Street.
Without warning, he grabbed her bottom before walking away.
The girl, who recognized him from previous encounters, was left in shock.
She turned to see him walking away, but he then looked back at her, adding to her distress.
Later, she was able to identify him during a police identification parade.
On May 27, Frost targeted a 13-year-old schoolgirl at a different bus stop.
He approached her and inappropriately put his hand up her skirt before quickly fleeing the scene.
Police officers responded swiftly and stopped him, but Frost provided a bizarre and inconsistent account of his actions, which resulted in him not being arrested at that time.
It was only during a subsequent police visit to his home on June 6, prompted by concerns that he was self-harming, that authorities finally took him into custody.
During the search, officers discovered a partially functional double-barrel shotgun, specifically a 410 shotgun, with one of its barrels still operational.
Frost was taken to hospital by police officers after his arrest, but he was reportedly troublesome, kicking out at officers and biting one of them.
The 37-year-old man later admitted to multiple charges, including sexual assault, sexual activity with a child, possession of a firearm, and two counts of assaulting emergency workers.
He also confessed to breaching a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) and failing to notify police of his frequent stays at a woman’s house in Leeds, which was a violation of the sex offenders register.
His criminal record is extensive, with convictions dating back to 2001 for indecent assault of a child, and in 2006 for sexual activity with a child.
In 2014, he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl in Castleford by touching her while riding a BMX through a park before riding off.
Additionally, he was convicted of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of children after masturbating in front of a 12- and 13-year-old girls at Wakefield Kirkgate Railway Station.
During his court appearance via video link from HMP Doncaster, Judge Simon Batiste sentenced Frost to a total of 12 years in prison.
The sentence comprised eight years of custody and an additional four years on extended licence.
The judge emphasized the seriousness of Frost’s criminal history and the ongoing risk he posed to society.
He stated, “You have a considerable record for offences of a sexual nature.
You pose a significant risk of harm at the moment.
To provide suitable protection to society I’m satisfied that an extended prison sentence is suitable.” In mitigation, defense lawyer Charlotte Noddings explained that Frost’s recent offending was triggered by losing his job following the pandemic, which destabilized his life.
She noted that Frost “thrived on stability” and that its loss led him to turn to drugs and criminal behavior.
Noddings added that Frost was aware of the wrongfulness of his actions, expressed remorse, and accepted that a lengthy prison term was inevitable.
The case highlights the ongoing challenges of managing offenders with extensive and serious criminal histories, especially those involving harm to minors.
