SAMANTHA PAISLEY OF TELFORD FACES JUSTICE AFTER HORRIFIC ANIMAL ABUSE CASE

Samantha Jane Paisley, born on September 22, 1986, and residing in Stonedale, Sutton Hill, Telford TF7 4AH, was found guilty of neglecting her severely injured dog, Mitzi, in a case that has shocked the local community and animal welfare advocates alike.

The incident dates back to March 11, 2018, when Paisley left her home, leaving Mitzi confined in a cage alongside her other pet dog, Skye. It was known that these two dogs had previously engaged in fights, raising concerns about the safety of leaving them together unattended. Despite this knowledge, Paisley chose to leave her pets in the same enclosure, which ultimately led to a brutal attack on Mitzi.

According to court proceedings, Paisley only became aware of the extent of Mitzi’s injuries the following evening. The dog had suffered a severe degloving injury, a traumatic wound where the skin and tissue are torn away from the bone, leaving her in excruciating pain. The injury was so severe that three of Mitzi’s lower front teeth had become detached, and she also sustained multiple bite wounds across her body.

Upon discovering the injury, Paisley contacted her local veterinary clinic, who instructed her to bring Mitzi in immediately. However, she delayed taking her pet to the vet until the following Wednesday, allowing the dog to endure days of suffering. The delay proved fatal for Mitzi, as the vet was forced to euthanize her to end her pain and suffering.

Inspector Nayman Dunderdale, who investigated the case, described the injuries as among the worst he had encountered in over two decades working with the RSPCA. He expressed his disgust at Paisley's actions, stating, “It was truly a horrific injury and the dog must have suffered immeasurably during those four days. It is a very callous person who would leave their pet with such a state without seeking medical attention. It is sickening.”

In court, Paisley pleaded guilty to three animal welfare offences. She was sentenced to a 12-month community order, fined a total of £250, which included costs, and was banned from owning any animals for 15 years, a ban that will expire in October 2033.

Further details reveal that in November 2022, Paisley was also sentenced to three years in prison for serious child neglect. Additionally, Darren Paisley, aged 39, and Serena Sibson-Bartram, aged 35, both of Telford, received prison sentences related to the same case, highlighting the severity of the situation and the ongoing legal repercussions for those involved.
