SADIQ MOHAMMED BRISTOL SEX ATTACKER SENTENCED AGAIN AFTER BRUTAL ASSAULT IN BRISTOL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Bristol, Sadiq Mohammed, a 32-year-old man with a troubling criminal history, has been sentenced to an indefinite term in prison following a heinous sexual assault on a young girl. The incident took place in May 2006, and the court proceedings revealed a pattern of violent behavior that spanned several years.

Mohammed, who was residing in the Barton Hill area of Bristol at the time, was convicted of abducting and sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl. The assault occurred after he approached the young girl while she was standing outside a local corner shop, accompanied by her eight-year-old sister. According to court reports, Mohammed cunningly offered the older sister a pound to buy sweets, ostensibly to distract her, so he could isolate the younger girl. Once alone, he took her to his flat, where he committed the assault and threatened her with violence if she told anyone about what had happened.

The young victim only confided in her parents after she recognized Mohammed near a supermarket and described him as a “very bad man.” The case was brought before Bristol Crown Court, where Mohammed faced charges of child abduction and sexual assault. Despite denying the charges, the jury deliberated for less than an hour before returning a guilty verdict on both counts. The swift decision underscored the strength of the evidence against him.

Following the sentencing, the victim’s father, who has chosen to remain anonymous for legal reasons, expressed a sense of relief and justice being served. He stated, “Justice has been served today. We are very glad about the verdict.”

Mohammed’s criminal history is extensive. He arrived in Bristol from Somalia in 1990 and sought asylum in the United Kingdom. The Home Office has not publicly confirmed the status of his asylum application, citing confidentiality. In 2000, Mohammed was sentenced to four years in prison for attacking three women, including a 14-year-old girl. However, he was released after serving only half of his sentence. At that time, Judge Lester Boothman recommended his deportation, citing him as a danger to women and describing his presence in the UK as detrimental.

Despite these warnings, Mohammed was not deported. A Home Office spokesperson explained that each case is considered individually, taking into account international obligations and conditions in the country of origin. The spokesperson emphasized that return is only enforced when the authorities are satisfied that the individual will not be at risk upon deportation, leaving some to question whether the system adequately protected the community from repeat offenders like Mohammed.
