RYAN HATTON FROM TELFORD SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN SHREWSBURY
In December 2020, a man from Telford who was caught engaging in illegal activities with minors has been sentenced to prison.Ryan Hatton, aged 35, residing on Springfield Crescent in Madeley, Telford, was apprehended after being targeted by a group of paedophile hunters who suspected him of attempting to communicate with a young girl online.
Hatton believed he was speaking to a 12-year-old girl during these online exchanges.
However, the vigilante group exposed his intentions, leading to his subsequent arrest.
Following his apprehension, authorities from Telford CID launched a comprehensive investigation into his online activities.
During the course of the investigation, law enforcement officers uncovered evidence that Hatton had also been in contact with a real 14-year-old girl.
It was revealed that he had been grooming her, which added serious weight to the case against him.
The evidence collected pointed to a pattern of predatory behavior involving minors.
At Shrewsbury Crown Court, Hatton faced the consequences of his actions.
He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, arranging or facilitating a child sex offence, and attempting to cause or incite a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.
On sentencing, the court handed down a prison term of seven years and three months.
Additionally, Hatton will be under supervision for a further two years and nine months on licence after his release, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and community groups to combat online child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from predatory individuals.
