RYAN HANCOCK SENTENCED IN CARMARTHEN FOR RAPE OF TEENAGER

In a distressing case that unfolded in Carmarthen, a young woman endured a traumatic assault at the hands of Ryan Hancock, a 21-year-old man with a troubling history. The incident took place in February of this year at an address within Carmarthen, where Hancock allegedly raped the teenager, leaving her physically and emotionally scarred.

Ryan Hancock, who resides at Haulfryn, Tregynwr, Carmarthen, pleaded guilty to the charge of rape during his court appearance, which significantly influenced the sentencing process. The court also learned that Hancock had a prior caution from July 2016 for sexual activity involving a girl under 16. This caution was issued after authorities discovered images of him kissing a 13-year-old girl on her mobile phone, highlighting a pattern of concerning behavior.

In a victim impact statement, the young woman described how the assault had profoundly affected her personality. She reported becoming more withdrawn, short-tempered, and experiencing difficulties sleeping, illustrating the lasting psychological scars inflicted by the attack.

Hancock’s defense attorney, Jim Davies, expressed remorse on behalf of his client, emphasizing that Hancock was a young man with many positive qualities. However, the presiding judge, Keith Thomas, made it clear that Hancock’s understanding of appropriate sexual boundaries was severely lacking.
