AYR MAN RECEIVES 14 MONTHS FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND INDECENCY IN FRONT OF POLICE
A man named Ryan Halliday from Ross Street, Ayr, was sentenced to fourteen months in prison after being convicted of assaulting his ex-partner and then engaging in extremely vulgar behavior in front of police officers.According to court reports, Halliday pleaded guilty to the offenses last week at Ayr Sheriff Court while he was already in custody for breaching bail conditions.
The initial incident occurred in July, where Halliday assaulted his ex-partner by punching and slapping her.
The attack was fueled by emotional distress related to his ex-girlfriend confiding in a new partner.
Neighbors heard her screams for help, with her crying out, ‘Help me!
He has been doing this all night.’ She managed to escape the premises and went to her mother's house, who then contacted the police.
Halliday was subsequently released on bail with strict orders not to approach or contact his former partner, but he breached this condition on September 21, leading to his arrest.
During his arrest at Ayr Police Station, Halliday behaved threateningly and abusively, shouting, swearing, and making racial remarks directed at one officer.
In an unacceptable display of indecency, he removed his erect penis from his underwear and masturbated while staring at the officers.
Throughout the encounter, he also continued to act in a racially aggravated manner, shouting and swearing excessively.
Glenn Davis, representing Halliday, stated that this behavior was 'the norm' when alcohol was involved and noted that his client was sporting injuries from the assault.
He acknowledged that Halliday understands he should not have approached his ex-partner while on bail.
Sheriff John Montgomery sentenced Halliday to a total of fourteen months imprisonment, counting from the time he has already served.
