RYAN GARSIDE FROM BLACKPOOL SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRLS IN PRESTON
A young man from Blackpool, Ryan Garside, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses involving underage girls. The 18-year-old, residing on Orme Street in Blackpool, was found guilty of grooming his victims through social media platforms before arranging to meet them in person, where he committed a series of heinous assaults.
Garside's crimes span over a period from 2016 to 2017, during which he targeted four young girls.
His offenses include the rape of a 13-year-old girl, an incident in which he forcibly covered her face and used a school tie as a ligature to subdue her.
The court heard that Garside was between 16 and 17 years old at the time of these offenses, making his actions particularly disturbing given his age and the vulnerability of his victims.
The case was heard at Preston Crown Court, where Garside faced a total of 20 charges related to his abuse.
These charges encompassed a range of criminal acts, including sexual activity with minors, possession of indecent images, inciting children to engage in sexual acts, and breaches of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that had been issued in May 2017 to restrict his contact with minors.
In a prior hearing, Garside pleaded guilty to one count of rape, ten counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, one count of possessing indecent images, three counts of inciting a child to perform sexual acts, and five violations of the SHPO.
His breaches of the order involved numerous instances where he failed to comply with the restrictions imposed to protect potential victims.
The court sentenced Garside to a total of over 12 years in prison, comprising a primary sentence of nine years and seven months, with an additional 32 months added for the multiple breaches of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Furthermore, Garside has been placed on the Dangerous Offenders Register, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the risk he poses to the public.
His case highlights the dangers of online grooming and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable children from predators operating under the guise of social media interactions.
