2017: HALESOWEN DAD WHO THREATENED EX IS JAILED
A Halesowen man described as "jealous and possessive" was sentenced to 16 months in jail after threatening his former partner with a stun gun and a knife.Ryan Campbell, 24, warned the woman, who had left him and their children, to return to her Dudley residence, stating, "I am going to taser you." He physically assaulted her by punching her while holding the stun gun, and subsequently, he threw a kitchen knife towards her after retrieving it from his vehicle.
Campbell, who refused to accept the end of their relationship, engaged in a stalking-like behavior by driving along Priory Road near her parents' house.
He also sent a text message containing a death threat.
The following day, prosecutors presented evidence of a video message in which he told her, "I am coming for you - where are you." Shortly afterward, he verbally abused her and sprayed a soft drink at her as she was leaving a shop nearby.
According to prosecutor Angus Robertson, the woman fled towards her parents’ home but was pursued by Campbell, who then physically assaulted her and produced the stun gun.
Two days later, he attempted to pull her into his car by her hair and spat at her, the court was told.
Campbell, residing on Beecher Road, Halesowen, pleaded guilty to charges including possessing a firearm intending to threaten violence, harassment, and possessing a bladed article.
His defense solicitor, Miss Ellen Shaw, acknowledged Campbell’s acknowledgment of his misconduct and emphasized, "He knows he has to manage his temper."
