A man identified as Ryan Baskerville, aged 30, has been officially branded as a dangerous individual by law enforcement authorities following his conviction for child sex offences.Baskerville, a resident of Liversedge in Yorkshire, faced justice at Leeds Crown Court, where he was sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison after admitting to the heinous crimes committed against a young child.
During the court proceedings on Tuesday, the judge handed down a sentence of seven years of imprisonment, with an additional five years on licence, meaning he will be under supervision after his release.
Furthermore, Baskerville was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, a measure designed to restrict his activities and prevent any further harm to the community.
The case came to light after the victim, whose identity remains protected, disclosed details of the abuse, prompting a formal report to Kirklees Police.
This disclosure triggered a comprehensive investigation led by the Kirklees District Child Safeguarding Unit.
The investigation culminated in Baskerville’s arrest and subsequent charging with multiple sexual offences.
DC Angus Whitehead, who led the investigation for the Kirklees Child Safeguarding Unit, expressed his commendation for the victim’s bravery.
He stated, “I would like to praise the courage of the victim.
They have shown great fortitude throughout the investigation and court processes.” Whitehead also emphasized the seriousness of Baskerville’s actions, describing him as a “dangerous and manipulative offender.” He urged anyone who might have experienced similar unreported sexual offences, whether recent or from the past, to come forward and contact the police.
The officer reassured the public that all reports are handled with the utmost sensitivity, underscoring the importance of community cooperation in safeguarding children and vulnerable individuals.
