BLACKPOOL RAPIST RYAN BARKER SENTENCED TO OVER FIVE YEARS IN PRISON
In a recent court hearing at Preston Crown Court, Ryan Barker, a 23-year-old man originally from Blackpool, was sentenced to a prison term of five years and four months for the heinous crime of raping a 14-year-old girl. The incident took place in Kingscote Park, located in the Layton area of Blackpool, and has shocked the local community with its disturbing details.
According to court reports, Barker had arranged to meet the young girl, who was experiencing personal difficulties at the time, with the intention of sharing a drink to lift her spirits.
The girl, who was only 14 years old, had initially agreed to meet Barker for a casual outing, believing he had reassured her that their meeting would be purely friendly and that he would not harm her.
Barker, who resided on Ascot Road in Layton, brought along vodka, and the trio headed to Kingscote Park to drink together.
As the evening progressed, Barker began to ply the girl with alcohol, which led her to become heavily intoxicated.
Witnesses and the victim herself later described her as blacking out multiple times during the incident.
The prosecution revealed that her recollection of what transpired was hazy, but she remembered Barker giving her love bites and repeatedly asking him to stop.
It was also noted that she was too drunk to give valid consent to any sexual activity that occurred.
Two women walking their dogs in the park happened upon the scene and became concerned when they saw Barker and the girl in the bushes.
They approached the group and questioned Barker about his actions, with one telling him, “What do you think you’re doing?” and another warning, “You’re in trouble.
The police are on their way.” The women then stayed with the girl until police arrived, providing her with care and support.
The victim was later taken to hospital after the incident.
During the court proceedings, Kirsten McAteer, the prosecutor, highlighted that Barker had previously exchanged explicit messages with the girl, which he later apologized for, claiming he believed their exchanges were jokes.
Despite this, Barker admitted to the court that he had engaged in the sexual assault.
The judge, Norman Wright, emphasized that the girl was clearly too intoxicated to consent and that Barker had supplied her with alcohol, which disinhibited his actions.
The judge also made it clear that Barker’s actions were not premeditated but developed during the course of the evening.
As part of his sentence, Barker was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, prohibited from working with children, and barred from any unsupervised contact with individuals under 16.
He was also forbidden from approaching or communicating with the victim.
The court’s decision underscores the severity of the crime and the importance of protecting vulnerable minors from such predatory behavior.
