RYAN ALLEN BRADFORD SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT

In May 2016, a man from Bradford, Ryan Allen, was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of attempted rape and sexual assault.

The court heard that Allen, aged 21, carried out a degrading and violent attack on a sex worker in Bradford on New Year’s Day, an incident that shocked the local community and highlighted his troubling history.

Judge Jonathan Rose described Allen as a “ticking sexual timebomb,” emphasizing the defendant’s past behavior and the pattern of sexual misconduct that dated back to his juvenile years.

The judge pointed out that Allen’s previous offenses involved a disturbing use of violence to achieve sexual objectives, particularly targeting vulnerable females over whom he sought to exert dominance.

This pattern of predatory behavior was a significant factor in the court’s decision.

At the time of the attack, Allen was residing on Airedale Road in the Bradford neighborhood of Barkerend.

Initially, he faced charges of rape concerning two young girls; however, after admitting to alternative sexual offenses, he was instead placed under youth rehabilitation orders.

Despite being registered as a sex offender, Allen had failed to comply with notification requirements on two occasions, in 2012 and 2015, by not informing authorities of his current residence.

On the early morning of New Year’s Day, Allen had been heavily intoxicated, having consumed alcohol and cocaine.

Around 6:30 am, he encountered a sex worker in the Soho Street area, near Thornton Road, while she was on her way to meet a friend.

The woman’s identity remains undisclosed for privacy reasons.

Allen approached her and asked if she was “doing business,” to which she agreed, offering to perform sex acts for £20.

However, Judge Rose noted that Allen had no money at the time and was under the influence of substances, suggesting that his intent was driven by a desire for sexual gratification regardless of his financial situation.

According to prosecutor Michael Collins, the situation escalated when Allen exposed himself to the woman and attempted to persuade her to follow him to a more secluded spot.

As she began to walk away, Allen launched himself at her, overpowering her physically.

The court was told that Allen repeatedly punched her in the head and body, kicked her legs, and caused her to lose her balance.

During the assault, Allen covered her mouth with his hand and insulted her, calling her “a dirty, cheap slag.” Despite her efforts to resist and scream for help, Allen continued his assault, ultimately sexually assaulting her before fleeing the scene when a resident shouted at him.

The victim managed to alert the police, and Allen was arrested on nearby waste ground shortly afterward.

During police interviews, he denied involvement in the attack.

However, at an earlier court hearing, Allen pleaded guilty to charges of attempted rape and sexual assault.

Judge Rose expressed confidence that Allen would have gone on to commit a full rape if not for the intervention of a member of the public who intervened during the incident.

In addition to his six-year prison sentence, Allen’s license was extended by four years due to the danger he posed to the public.

The judge also ordered that he register as a sex offender for life and imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

This order includes a ban on entering red-light districts in Bradford, Leeds, and Huddersfield, aiming to prevent further offenses and protect vulnerable individuals in these areas.
