WAREHOUSE WORKER RUSSELL BEATTY SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN JAIL IN TEESSIDE FOR RAPE
A warehouse employee has received a prison sentence after being convicted of rape.Russell Beatty, aged 28, appeared before Teesside Crown Court on Friday for sentencing following a jury trial.
The court was informed that the Middlesbrough resident subjected the woman to acts of 'domination and violence,' leaving her feeling too frightened to leave her home.
During a victim impact statement, the woman — who is legally unable to be named — expressed that the investigation's stress has affected her well-being.
She stated, 'I am nervous constantly.
I feel trapped because of what he put me through.
The incident has severely affected my life — I am scared to leave my residence.' She also revealed that she has been experiencing health issues, including chest pains and heart problems, which medical professionals attribute to stress and anxiety.
The court heard that the defendant, who maintains his innocence, is considered to have been of good character prior to the incident.
His legal representative requested that the judge consider his youth, as well as the fact that he has no prior issues with other inmates, has a mortgage, and is employed in a warehouse.
In delivering his sentencing, Judge Howard Crowson stated, 'You compelled her to engage in sexual intercourse.
It was a selfish act done purely for your own pleasure.' The judge sentenced Beatty, of Hills View Road, Eston, to eight years in prison and ordered him to have no contact with the victim.
