A DEPRAVED PAEDOPHILE WHO PREYED ON CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS SEVEN-YEARS-OLD ONLINE WAS BRANDED "A SCUMBAG" BY DISGUSTED PARENTS
In February 2026, a man from Edinburgh was condemned as 'a scumbag' by upset parents during a court session after being found guilty of online child sexual abuse.Ross Jameson, 43, engaged in disturbing online behavior by posing as a girl named 'Shannon' to contact young victims.
He solicited them to record and send footage of themselves involved in sexual acts, some involving animals or public urination.
Jameson encouraged some victims to masturbate or perform sexual acts with a dog, requesting explicit videos and photos.
He also offered to buy alcohol and nicotine products in exchange for such recordings.
During online exchanges, Jameson shared explicit pornography with some children.
The court was informed that the victims ranged from ages seven to thirteen, and the offenses occurred from March 2023 to April 2025.
Prosecutors' detailed reports are being prepared for the next hearing.
Jameson appeared in custody, pleaded guilty to eight charges involving sexual contact with minors, and was remanded.
Family members of the victims attended the court and expressed outrage, calling him 'scum' and breaking down in tears.
A sentencing date was deferred to allow for detailed reports and risk assessments.
The judge warned Jameson of a likely lengthy prison sentence.
Previously, Jameson had served time for soliciting young girls online with a fake identity, during which police found abusive images and videos involving minors and animals at his home.
He was jailed for 18 months and registered as a sex offender for ten years in 2017.
In another case from January 2018, Jameson, aged 35, was sentenced to 18 months after grooming teenage girls in Dundee.
The court was told that between 2015 and 2016, Jameson targeted girls living in Dundee and Arbroath, sending them explicit messages via their phones.
Jameson also admitted to possessing indecent images of children, as well as pseudo-images, stored on his devices—his laptop and mobile phone held a total of 162 such images.
His employer at Skyscanner had no prior convictions.
The investigation was sparked by a concerned sister who discovered her sister was communicating secretly online and found explicit material on her phone, leading to police search findings that confirmed Jameson was aware the girl was under 16.
Officers also discovered evidence of explicit exchanges with another underage girl, including in a chat group called 'Meow' where a girl listed as under 16 was sharing photos.
In a separate incident in November 2017, Jameson, 34, was remanded for sending sexual messages to teenage girls while using fake identities.
One victim, age 15, was contacted through an app called 'Hot or Not,' where she was led to believe she was communicating with a boy named Stewart.
He later introduced himself as Ross, claiming he was 32 from Edinburgh, and continued exchanging sexually explicit messages, including about taking photos of girls in their underwear for profit.
Police investigations revealed Jameson’s possession of indecent images at his Edinburgh residence, including images of young girls and some involving animals.
His actions and possession of indecent images highlighted his predatory behavior, confirmed by analysis of his mobile phone and other devices.
