ROBERT AND KEVIN WHITLOCK: HORRIFIC CHILD SEX ABUSE IN LUTON, LOWESTOFT, AND PETERBOROUGH REVEALED

In a deeply disturbing case that spans decades and multiple locations, two brothers, Robert Whitlock and Kevin Whitlock, have been convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of their sister. The victims' stories, which remained hidden for many years due to legal protections and personal fears, have now come to light following their recent conviction at Luton Crown Court.

Alison, now 38 years old, courageously chose to break her silence after enduring years of torment inflicted by her brothers. She revealed that Robert, aged 44, and Kevin, aged 41, were found guilty of four counts of rape and multiple instances of rape over a prolonged period. The court's decision resulted in both brothers being sentenced to five years in prison. Until her decision to speak out, Alison’s identity, along with that of her brothers, was protected by law, but she has waived her anonymity in hopes of encouraging other victims to seek justice.

The horrific abuse began when Alison was just seven years old. She was subjected to repeated assaults by Robert, who was 14 at the time, with the abuse occurring approximately 100 times during their weekends alone at home in Luton while their parents were away. This pattern of abuse persisted for three years, becoming almost routine until Robert left the family home at age 17. Meanwhile, Kevin began abusing Alison when she was only 11, with her enduring at least 100 assaults over a three-year span. These traumatic experiences marked her childhood, which she describes as being raised in a 'dysfunctional family' with a total of 11 children.

Alison moved from Luton to Lowestoft a year before leaving home at age 15. It was not until 2005 that she finally reported the abuse to Bedfordshire Police, prompting an official investigation. She explained that the turning point came during her brother’s wedding preparations. Her husband, concerned about the situation, visited the brothers and expressed his disapproval. A fight ensued, and her husband was accused of assault, leading the police to arrest him. During the arrest, Alison broke down and disclosed the long-suppressed truth about her abuse. A police officer at the time advised her that it was not too late to report the crimes, which she initially believed was impossible given the passage of so many years.

Currently residing in Europe, Alison prefers to keep her exact location private, though she has recently started a property development business with her husband of 22 years, Phil. Despite her new life, the psychological scars from her childhood continue to affect her. She admits to having difficulty trusting others, being wary of men, and only leaving her home when accompanied by her family. Her trauma persists even across borders, and she remains deeply affected by her past.

The conviction of her brothers has brought her a sense of relief after a ten-day trial, during which she bravely provided detailed testimony in person rather than via video link. However, the aftermath has been painful; her family, including her mother, father, and most siblings, have disowned her. Only one brother and one sister have maintained contact. Alison expressed her disappointment, stating, “In some ways my family have become worse after the trial. They have sent me horrible emails saying I’m a liar and putting me down.”

She shares a complex and bitter feeling towards her brothers, who are now required to register as sex offenders for the rest of their lives. The judge noted their lack of remorse as particularly troubling, a sentiment Alison echoes. “As the judge said, they had no remorse and the lack of remorse was the worst bit for me. They are still denying it,” she said. She confesses her hope that their admission of guilt might have come sooner, but they continue to deny the allegations.

Alison also revealed that her mother had previously reported her abuse to police in 1977, when her older brother began abusing her. She recounted that her mother called the police, but the response was minimal—a local officer simply spoke to her brother privately. Threatened by her brother, who warned her that if she told anyone, she would go to prison and be placed in a children’s home, Alison remained silent out of fear. She urges others in similar situations to come forward, emphasizing that it is never too late. “The police have been absolutely brilliant—given so much help and support along the way,” she said. She also praised the police’s witness protection program, which supported her through the court process.

A Bedfordshire Police spokeswoman confirmed that they have a specialized team trained to handle cases involving sexual abuse, whether in a domestic setting or involving strangers. The police encourage victims to report such crimes and provided a contact number for support. This case underscores the importance of speaking out against abuse, regardless of how much time has passed, and highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect vulnerable individuals and bring perpetrators to justice.
