BLACKBURN MAN SENTENCED FOR RELENTLESS HARASSMENT AND THREATS TO EX-GIRLFRIEND
A man named Robert Wignall, aged 26, who once lived on Lynthorpe Road in Blackburn but now has no fixed address, pleaded guilty to harassment. The court heard that he bombarded his ex-girlfriend with numerous unwanted texts and phone calls following the end of their relationship.
Wignall had initially been in a relationship with the victim for about five months, during which she noticed changes in his behaviour.
He became controlling, demanding to see her phone and accusing her of sleeping with other men.
Despite her attempts to keep things civil, Wignall continued to contact her after she terminated the relationship, including sending 22 threatening messages, leaving a voicemail threatening to assault her, and making 45 missed calls in one evening.
He also made a comment about her son and knew which school he attended.
The harassment caused her to fear for her safety, leading her to leave her home with her young child.
Wignall was jailed for 20 weeks for prior offences of assault against a former partner that took place in Blackburn last year.
He was committed in custody to Preston Crown Court for sentencing on September 16.
