SCOTTISH MAN ROBERT RAMMAGE FROM MIDLOTHIAN AND INCHICORE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Robert Rammage, a 67-year-old man originally from Midlothian, Scotland, and residing at The Tramway on Spa Road in Inchicore, Dublin, has been sentenced to six years in prison for a series of heinous crimes involving a young girl. The offences took place over a period spanning from June 2002 to May 2005, during which Rammage engaged in multiple acts of sexual assault and child exploitation.Rammage pleaded guilty to several serious charges before the Central Criminal Court. These included one count of oral rape, which involved forcing a young girl to perform oral sex on him. Additionally, he admitted to creating and possessing a significant number of child pornography images—specifically, 134 photographs—many of which depicted minors in sexually explicit situations. Furthermore, he was convicted of sexually assaulting the same girl on multiple occasions, with the assaults occurring at his Dublin residence.
The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about the investigation. Gardaí, the Irish police force, conducted a search of Rammage’s flat, during which they discovered a bag filled with bundles of numbered Polaroid photographs. When confronted, Rammage reportedly remarked, “This is what you want,” indicating a possible awareness of the illicit nature of his collection and actions.
In delivering the sentence, Mr. Justice Paul Carney emphasized the severity of the crimes committed by Rammage. Beyond the prison term, the judge also ordered that Rammage be registered as a sex offender, ensuring that he will be subject to ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm. The case has left a lasting impact on the victims and highlights the importance of vigilant law enforcement in tackling child exploitation and sexual abuse.
