JAMES DUFFY FROM DALKEITH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN EDINBURGH

In a recent court hearing held at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, James Duffy, a resident of Dalkeith, was formally sentenced for his involvement in the sexual abuse of a minor.

The victim, a 13-year-old girl, was subjected to inappropriate and illegal acts, which led to Duffy’s prosecution under section 30 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.

Following a thorough legal process, the court delivered its judgment in January 2025.

Duffy was handed a Community Payback Order, which mandates him to complete a total of 225 hours of unpaid work over a span of three years.

This sentence aims to serve both as a punitive measure and a form of community restitution.

Furthermore, the court imposed a Non-Harassment Order, explicitly forbidding Duffy from making any contact with the victim for a period of ten years.
