SHOCKING CRIMES OF ROBERT MCEWAN IN BIRMINGHAM: CHILD ABUSE HORROR REVEALED
In November 2017, a disturbing case unfolded in Birmingham involving a convicted paedophile who has a history of attempting to evade justice through multiple name changes. The individual, known as Mister Mac, aged 55 and residing in the Aston area of Birmingham, faced a series of serious sexual offence charges related to the abuse of young children over a prolonged period.
During a court hearing conducted via video link at Birmingham Crown Court, Mister Mac was formally charged with a disturbing array of offences.
These included two counts of buggery committed against a male child under the age of 13, along with three counts of indecent assault on another male child under 13.
Additionally, he faced three charges of indecent assault on a female child under 13, and a charge of rape involving a female child under the age of 13.
The gravity of these allegations underscored the severity of the case.
The court proceedings revealed that Mister Mac, who was born in Scotland, was already serving time in prison for the rape of a seven-year-old girl.
It was also disclosed that he had previously changed his name twice by deed poll in an effort to conceal his identity and past crimes.
Originally known as Terry Price, he later adopted the name Robert McEwan, and ultimately settled on the alias 'Mister Mac,' under which he was now being prosecuted.
Throughout the trial, Mister Mac maintained his innocence, denying all the charges brought against him.
This stance compelled the victims to give evidence in court, recounting their traumatic experiences.
The court heard harrowing testimonies from the children, who were just six and four years old when the abuse began.
The abuse reportedly continued over a period of five years, causing lasting damage to the victims' lives.
During the trial, the jury was presented with detailed and distressing evidence illustrating the depravity and complete disregard for the children’s well-being demonstrated by Mister Mac.
The evidence was so compelling that the jury took less than an hour to reach a verdict, finding him guilty on all 13 charges.
Prosecutors highlighted that Mac had a prior conviction from the 1980s for the rape of another child when he was known as Terry Price.
After serving a short sentence, he was released from prison, and it was during this period that he changed his name to Robert McEwan to avoid detection and linkage to his previous offence.
Throughout the trial, Mister Mac displayed a blatant attitude of arrogance and contempt.
He was uncooperative with his legal counsel, dismissing his barrister’s efforts and telling him to 'just get on with it.' His behavior reflected a lack of remorse and a blatant disregard for the court proceedings.
In sentencing, the judge handed down a term of 22 years in prison, accompanied by an additional five-year extended sentence.
A minimum tariff of 12 and a half years was set before parole could be considered, with probation authorities responsible for assessing his eligibility for release.
After the sentence was announced, Mister Mac, appearing via video link, showed no remorse; he stood up, flapped his arms, and displayed a complete lack of emotion or regret for his actions.
The female victim, who was one of the children abused, described the profound impact the ordeal had on her life.
She explained that she now suffers from complex post-traumatic stress disorder and continues to experience prolonged trauma as a direct result of Mister Mac’s actions.
During the pre-sentence report, it was revealed that Mister Mac had disclosed the existence of four additional victims who had not yet come forward or been identified by police.
As part of his sentencing, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, with lifelong restrictions imposed upon his release from prison to protect the public and prevent further harm.
