ROBERT HALE RELEASED FROM DARTMOOR PRISON, BANNED FROM DEVIZES AND WILTSHIRE AFTER SEX OFFENSE
In a development that has stirred concern within the community of Devizes and the wider Wiltshire area, Robert Hale, a convicted sex offender, is scheduled to be released from Dartmoor Prison today. Hale, aged 31 and previously residing in Roundway Gardens, is serving a one-year sentence for unlawful sexual activity involving a 13-year-old girl. His release marks a significant moment, especially given the restrictions placed upon him by authorities to protect the public and prevent any further harm.Hale's release comes with a series of stringent conditions imposed by the Probation Service and the prison’s public protection unit. These conditions are designed to mitigate the risk he poses and include prohibitions against approaching or communicating with his victim or any member of her family. Furthermore, Hale is barred from entering Devizes itself, as well as other designated areas within Wiltshire, as outlined on official maps provided to him. He is also prohibited from residing in the same household as any child under the age of 18 and from engaging in work or organized activities that involve minors under 16, whether paid or unpaid. Additionally, Hale is required to inform his supervising officer of any new relationships with women.
These restrictions are set to remain in effect until January 2007, and Hale will be registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of five years. The family of the victim, who is now 15 years old, has been informed of these conditions by the Probation Service. They have expressed that the restrictions are intended to manage the risks associated with Hale’s release, but they continue to harbor concerns about the leniency of his sentence.
It has been reported that shortly after Hale’s incarceration, he attempted to make contact with his victim through a third party, an action that underscores ongoing worries about his compliance with the restrictions and the potential threat he may pose. The community and the victim’s family remain vigilant as Hale reintegrates into society under these carefully monitored conditions.
