ROBERT GREEN OF STIRLING SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CRIMES AT QUEENS HOTEL IN BRIDGE OF ALLAN

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Stirling and the surrounding areas, Robert Green, a 40-year-old hotel porter from William Booth Place, St Ninians, Stirling, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of viewing and downloading explicit child pornography. The offences came to light when Green was on night duty at the Queens Hotel in Bridge of Allan, where he used the hotel’s reception computer to access and download images depicting the sexual abuse of a one-year-old child.

Green’s actions were uncovered when his employers conducted a routine check of the computer’s memory, revealing the disturbing material he had accessed. The court heard that between February 3 and February 21, 2004, Green engaged in the illegal activity during his shifts at the hotel. The images he viewed included particularly heinous content involving the abuse of a very young child, which the sheriff described as eliciting “particular repugnance.”

During the sentencing hearing at Stirling Sheriff Court, Sheriff Andrew Cubie expressed his strong condemnation of Green’s conduct. He emphasized that Green’s behaviour was completely outside the bounds of what is considered acceptable by society, stating, “Your behaviour was completely outwith the frame of reference of all right-thinking people.”

Green was already a convicted sex offender, having previously served a two-year sentence for sex offences committed against a young girl. A social enquiry report presented to the court highlighted that Green’s deviant sexual fantasies rendered him a high risk to children of all ages and both sexes. This assessment underscored the potential danger he posed to the community.

In a chilling admission, Green told police that he would “always be a danger to children,” revealing the depth of his troubling tendencies. Despite his past convictions and his placement on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years in 1999, Green managed to secure employment at a different hotel after losing his job at the Queens Hotel once his illegal activities were discovered.

Green’s legal counsel, Ian Angus, argued that his client had been dismissed immediately after the misconduct was uncovered. The lawyer also noted that Green had been seeking psychological help, having been abused himself as a child, and was currently undergoing counselling through a therapy service based in Surrey.

In sentencing Green, Sheriff Cubie imposed an extended sentence of seven years, with three years to be served in prison. Additionally, Green will be subject to recall to prison at any time during the following four years if he breaches the terms of his sentence or is found to be engaging in further illegal activity. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which such crimes are regarded and the need to protect vulnerable children from individuals like Green.
