Jan 2000 Caretaker jailed for downloading child pornography A caretaker who was discovered with 100,000 images of child pornography on his computer has been jailed for 42 months. Robert Fisher’s home in Oakmere Avenue, Potters Bar, was raided by officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary last year as part of the nationwide campaign Operation Ore. They were acting on a tip-off which came from a large-scale anti-pornography operation led by the US Postal Inspection Service. Fisher, 48, had claimed he had collected the images so he could create computer software to block out child pornography. Detective Chief Inspector Jerry Tattersal, leading the investigation, said this was the largest amount of child pornography ever found in Hertfordshire. He said: “Robert Fisher used the internet in the most inappropriate and disturbing way. However, through the successful use of intelligence-led policing supported by high-level investigative and technical skills, this individual was identified and brought to justice.” Jailing Fisher at St Albans Crown Court on Monday, Judge Findlay Baker ordered that he be registered as a sex offender for ten years and banned him from working with children. Fisher had worked as a caretaker at a number of commercial properties but is not known to have ever worked at a school
