ROBERT ALLUM SENTENCED IN SHEERNESS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST TEENAGERS
In a recent court ruling, Robert Allum, a 30-year-old resident of High Street in Sheerness, has been sentenced to serve a significant prison term following his conviction on multiple serious charges related to the sexual abuse of two underage girls. The incident and subsequent legal proceedings have drawn considerable attention to the case, highlighting the severity of the offences committed within the local community. On May 4, at Maidstone Crown Court, Allum was handed a sentence of six years in prison. However, he will only serve three of those years in custody before being released on license, a measure that allows for supervised release under specific conditions. The court's decision came after a jury found him guilty of six counts, including two counts of assault by penetration, two counts of sexual assault, and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. These charges stem from allegations that he engaged in inappropriate and illegal sexual conduct with two teenage girls, whose ages at the time of the abuse were 14 and 15.
Despite the substantial evidence presented during the trial, Allum maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to a total of ten charges. Nevertheless, the jury's verdict confirmed his guilt on six of those counts, leading to the sentencing. The court also imposed a sexual harm prevention order on him, restricting his activities and contact with minors, and mandated that he be registered on the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community.
The case has underscored the importance of safeguarding vulnerable minors and the justice system’s role in addressing such heinous crimes. The victims, whose identities remain protected, were subjected to abuse that began when they were just 14 and 15 years old, a fact that has deeply shocked the local community of Sheerness and beyond. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and reporting any suspicious behavior to prevent similar incidents in the future.
