Ricky Banthorpe, 38, had assaulted a heavily pregnant woman following an argument.
He demanded to stay overnight at her family home, then refused to leave when asked.
During the attack, he swung punches at her left temple, left ear, and struck her in the back of her head while her children were present.
She was taken to North Tees Hospital for treatment.
