16 MONTH SENTENCE FOR PREDATOR

2018.

Richard Moore, a 43-year-old resident of Newport, was sentenced to 16 months in prison at Southampton Crown Court after admitting to attempts to meet a minor for sexual activity.

In addition to his prison term, he received a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.

Moore was apprehended by police on January 6th on Portswood Road, Southampton, following an online operation conducted by the 'S.K.I.D Community' group.

Undercover decoys, posing as a 12-year-old girl named India, collected evidence showing Moore’s intentions to meet the girl for sexual purposes.

During the probe, he used explicit language and sent nude photographs of himself, planning to meet her at her aunt’s house later that day.

Earlier this month, Moore pled guilty to charges of attempting to communicate sexually with a child and attempting to meet a child following grooming.

Commenting on the case, authorities emphasized the seriousness of his actions and the importance of safeguarding efforts.

Moore was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment and received the additional orders to protect the community and prevent future offences.
