RICHARD MARSDEN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN MIDDLESBROUGH
A serious criminal case has culminated in the imprisonment of Richard Marsden following his heinous attacks on a woman in the Middlesbrough area.The incident involved two separate sexual assaults carried out by Marsden, a 27-year-old man whose residence is listed as Locksley Close, North Shields, North Tyneside.
The crimes took place in July of the previous year, causing significant concern within the local community and prompting swift legal action.
Following the allegations, Marsden was brought before Teesside Magistrates' Court in Middlesbrough for his initial appearance in August.
Given the gravity of the charges against him, the magistrates decided to transfer his case to Teesside Crown Court to ensure a more comprehensive judicial review.
During this period, Marsden was granted unconditional bail, allowing him to remain free until the scheduled hearing on September 24.
At the crown court hearing, Marsden did not contest the charges and instead pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by penetration.
The court proceedings culminated in a sentencing hearing held on December 6, where Judge Tim Stead presided over the case in Middlesbrough.
The judge sentenced Marsden to a term of three years in prison, reflecting the severity of his crimes.
Additionally, Marsden was ordered to sign the sex offender register, a requirement that will remain in effect indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety.
