RICHARD JONES AND HIS SHAMEFUL CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN ISLE OF WIGHT
Richard Jones, a 63-year-old resident of Grange Road in Shanklin, has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison after being convicted of historical child sex offences.The crimes, which occurred over an eleven-year period, involved the sexual assault of four young girls and have shocked the community of the Isle of Wight and surrounding areas.
Jones, who is also known by the alias Richard Bloch, was found guilty of seven counts of indecent assault and two counts of gross indecency.
His victims ranged in age from six to eleven years old and the assaults took place across several locations, including Crawley, North West London, and Kent.
These illegal acts spanned from 1991 to 2002, and the investigation uncovered a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.
During the court hearing at Brighton Crown Court, it emerged that Jones, a former employee at the Ryde Job Centre, had built a relationship of trust with the families of his victims.
By doing so, he was able to gain their confidence, which allowed him to carry out his sexual abuses over extended periods—many lasting two or more years.

Detective Sergeant Sian Harding of the West Sussex Safeguarding Investigation Unit emphasized the importance of pursuing justice regardless of the time elapsed since the crimes occurred.
She stated, “We will always take seriously all reports of sexual offences, from however long ago, and try to investigate wherever possible, to seek to achieve justice for the victims if we can.” On Thursday, Richard Jones was formally sentenced for his heinous acts.
He will also be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct.
