RICHARD HUCKER, CHILD RAPIST, RETURNED TO JAIL IN BRISTOL FOR BREACH AND VIOLENCE

In October 2012, Richard Hucker, a convicted child rapist, was sentenced to ten months in prison for violence and breaching a restraining order. Hucker, who was 32 and had no fixed address at the time, appeared before Bristol Crown Court and pleaded guilty to charges of affray, common assault, and violating a restraining order.

Hucker's criminal history includes an 11-year imprisonment in 2000 for the rape of a 12-year-old girl. The court established that he attacked the girl in Whitchurch in 1998, when he was 20 years old.

The court was told that on the recent incident, Hucker visited his partner’s home in Bristol, despite having a restraining order against him. He became involved in a drunken standoff with police, during which he threatened an officer with a large knife and threw stones, rocks, and vegetables at officers.

Judge Martin Picton commented on the seriousness of the police stand-off, saying, "The stand-off with the police was a very serious offence. For them to be presented with a large, drunk and aggressive man, armed with a knife, put police in a terrible position. They didn’t deserve any of that."

Prosecutor Julian Howells explained that Mrs. Hucker had received a call from her husband, and when she returned his call, she suspected he had been drinking. When she arrived home, she found broken glass and him sweeping it up. She then left with her children and called the police.

When officers arrived, Hucker threatened them with a large knife and threw various objects at them. He stated to officers that he had served seven and a half years and believed the first police officer entering would be fine, but the second officer behind a shield would "get it." Police had to Taser him before arresting him after he raised the knife at PC Milton, constituting the common assault.

Defence solicitor Kannan Siva said Hucker expressed remorse, was disgusted with his actions, and that he had a civilised relationship with his wife. Siva added, "He waved the knife about foolishly, he had no intention to hurt them. He was drunk, he could have made a mistake and he knows that."

Hucker's criminal record also includes the 1998 rape near Fortfield Road, which he pleaded guilty to on September 11, 2000. He was later arrested outside a Bristol club after a police investigation that linked him to the rape through DNA evidence. His victim, 12 at the time, was attacked while waiting on a path outside her friend’s house, in what was described as a "horrific attack."

While police initially struggled to find the perpetrator, the breakthrough came when Hucker was arrested 13 months later during an unrelated incident involving a nightclub bouncer. A routine DNA test confirmed his involvement, leading to his conviction. Judge Mark Dyer sentenced Hucker to ten years for the rape and an additional 12 months for the attack on the bouncer, describing the crime as "a wicked thing to do."
