RICHARD DAISH JAILED FOR GROOMING TEENS IN BRADFORD
A convicted sex offender, Richard Daish, has been sentenced to a total of 22 months in prison after being found guilty of grooming two vulnerable teenage boys within the city of Bradford, in direct violation of a court-issued Sexual Harm Prevention Order.Daish, aged 49 and residing at Trackside, Oakenshaw, Bradford, pleaded guilty to three separate breaches of the court order.
His sentencing took place at Bradford Crown Court, and he was remanded in custody to be held at HMP Leeds pending the final judgment.
According to prosecutor Nicola Hoskins, authorities responded to a police call at Daish’s residence, where they discovered a 17-year-old boy was present.
The court was informed that this individual was particularly vulnerable and facing potential exploitation, raising significant concern about his safety.
Further investigation revealed that police seized Daish’s mobile device, uncovering evidence of contact with another juvenile male, aged 16.
This contact was viewed as a serious violation of the court’s restrictions, which prohibited him from engaging with or approaching these minors.
Additional breach-related incidents emerged when a third violation occurred: the same 17-year-old returned unexpectedly to Daish’s address, contravening the court order.
The breaches spanned a period of approximately three months and involved grooming behaviors that heightened the severity of his offenses.
Lydia Pearce, representing Daish during mitigation, acknowledged that her client expressed a desire for an immediate custodial sentence.
However, she requested that the court impose the shortest possible term, emphasizing some degree of remorse.
The presiding official, Recorder Tahir Khan QC, emphasized that Daish was fully aware of the restrictions imposed upon him under the Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The order explicitly forbade any form of contact with the victims or allowing them into his property.
The court also heard that Daish’s probation officer assessed him as being at a high risk of reoffending, which contributed to the severity of his sentence.
Ultimately, the judge sentenced Daish to 16 months in prison for the initial two breaches, with an additional six months to be served consecutively for the third breach, which occurred while he was on bail.
This case underscores the ongoing concerns surrounding the management of sex offenders and the importance of strict compliance with court orders designed to protect vulnerable individuals within the Bradford area.
