RICHARD BURTON'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN LEEDS: WOODLAND SEX ATTACKER SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS
In April 2003, a disturbing case emerged from Leeds involving Richard Burton, a 28-year-old man who committed heinous acts of sexual assault against young children.Burton's crimes spanned several years and took place in various locations around Leeds, including woodland areas and his own residence in Wortley.
According to court records, Burton lured a young boy and girl into the woods at Armley by taking them on trips on his bicycle.
During these excursions, he subjected both children to sexual assaults.
The severity of his actions was compounded by threats of violence; Burton warned the children that he would kill them if they ever disclosed what had happened.
These threats effectively silenced the victims for a significant period, with the girl, who was under 10 years old at the time, choosing to remain silent for years out of fear.
The crimes did not end in the woods.
It was revealed that Burton also carried out indecent acts on the children in a flat where he was living at the time, further demonstrating his predatory behavior.
The case came to light when the girl, now a teenager, confided in her mother about the abuse last year.
Her disclosure prompted her brother to also reveal that Burton had threatened him with death if he spoke out.
