The charges pertained to images she had created in May and June of that year. Further details emerged in September 2018, when it was reported that Desouza had been involved in a consensual sexual relationship with a girl who was 16 years old at the time. The girl, whom Desouza had known since she was 13, was not a pupil at her school. The court heard that after the girl turned 16, the two began a relationship based on mutual consent. However, the situation took a darker turn when the girl’s mother discovered the relationship and reported it to the police. It was revealed that the girl had taken two intimate photographs of herself and sent them to Desouza, who later deleted these images from her phone.

Nonetheless, he emphasized that Desouza should have been aware that possessing such images was illegal. As part of her sentence, Desouza was ordered to complete 25 days of rehabilitation training, perform 200 hours of unpaid work, and sign the sex offenders register for five years.
