December 2015 Man ‘addicted’ to indecent images of children A MAN “addicted” to downloading indecent images of children is to be treated for his perverted habit. Reubin Davies, aged 21, was caught with almost 400 vile pictures and videos, Plymouth Crown Court heard. Police investigating a complaint by a 14-year-old girl’s mother found the images on his phone and computer in Plymouth. Davies was not prosecuted with any offence involving the child, who did not make any statement. But he pleaded guilty to a dozen offences of making indecent images of children. Judge Paul Darlow gave him a ten-month prison sentence suspended for two years. He must do the Thames Valley course to tackle internet sex offending and comply with probation supervision. The judge told Davies: “I suspect you are fairly relieved at receiving a suspended prison sentence. I don’t care how you feel now, tomorrow or next week. “If you decide you have better things to do than comply with probation or you commit further offences during the next two years, we meet again and you go inside.” Davies, now living in Kingsbridge, left the dock in tears. Nick Lewin, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said police found 123 Category A images, 24 Category B images and 247 Category C images on the defendant’s devices in June last year. Category A is the most serious bracket. Jeff Segan, for Davies, said he had a “complete addiction to downloading these images”. He added that he had left the family home with little support and resorted to looking for pictures on the internet. Mr Segan said that he had sought help for his problems but, after a series of initial consultations on the NHS, could no longer afford private treatment. He added: “His one comment in interview was ‘I need help’.” Judge Darlow also passed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order which means police can view his devices and scan his internet history. Davies must also sign the Sex Offender Register for seven years.
