PLYMOUTH MAN SENTENCED TO JAIL FOR BRAIN-DAMAGING PUNCH DURING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCIDENT
A man named Lee Fenn has been convicted of causing grievous bodily harm to his partner by punching her so hard that she suffered a brain bleed and permanent brain damage.
The incident occurred between May 27 and May 29 when Fenn punched the woman to the side of her head, leading to her being admitted to Derriford Hospital where a scan confirmed a bleed on the brain.
Fenn initially claimed that her injuries resulted from her falling onto the ground, asserting she hit her head when she hit the ground.
However, during the investigation, police interviewed the victim, who revealed there had been previous violence in the relationship.
The court heard that Fenn, who resides in Ipswich Close in Whitleigh, Plymouth, assaulted her during the specified period, and that she was later hospitalized.
Fenn admitted to causing the injuries and pleaded guilty on the day of his trial, subsequently being jailed for 32 months.
He was also made subject to a restraining order until further notice and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £140.
The lead investigator, Det Con Andy Luff, stated, “We welcome today’s sentence of Lee Fenn.
This crime has been thoroughly investigated and I commend the victim’s courage throughout the entire legal process.” The court found that based on medical evidence, the injury locations were inconsistent with Fenn’s version of events, confirming he was responsible for the harm inflicted.
