WALTHAM ABBEY DAD JAILED AFTER STABBING PREGNANT WIFE TWICE IN THE BACK WHILE SHE SLEPT ON THE SOFA
A 49-year-old man from Waltham Abbey, Rene Kouekham, who is a father of three children, was sentenced to prison after stabbing his pregnant wife twice in the back while she was sleeping on the sofa.
The incident took place in their home on December 8, 2017, following a jealous argument.
Kouekham grabbed a kitchen knife, pushed his wife forward, and inflicted two stab wounds.
Their 12-year-old son was present during the attack and shouted, "No daddy, no." As Kouekham also punched his wife and prevented her from leaving, she managed to seize his hand and escape to a neighbor’s house for assistance.
Police arrived to find Kouekham sitting on a doorstep with blood on his hands and took him into custody.
His wife suffered two stab wounds but was able to leave the hospital shortly after.
Kouekham admitted guilt and received a five-year prison sentence, along with a restraining order to keep him away from his wife.
The judge described the assault as highly dangerous, noting it was driven by jealousy and a loss of control.
