WALTHAM ABBEY POLICE OFFICER GIOVANNI MASCIA ACCUSED OF YEARS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE

A police officer from the Metropolitan Police, identified as PC Giovanni Mascia, has been implicated in a series of violent and abusive acts committed against his partner over a period of three years. The disturbing revelations emerged during a misconduct tribunal, which detailed the extent of Mascia's aggressive behavior, including physical assaults, threats, and intimidation tactics.

According to the tribunal, Mascia and his partner met on the Hinge dating app in 2020, and their relationship quickly became marred by violence. Witnesses and evidence presented during the hearing described multiple incidents where Mascia physically assaulted his partner. These included throwing her to the ground, pushing her against a wall which caused her to hit her head, and punching her in moments of anger. The tribunal also heard that Mascia had threatened her with a knife, holding a weapon to her stuffed toy elephant and threatening to cut it open, which was seen as a disturbing act of intimidation.

Further allegations revealed that Mascia expressed an intense desire to suffocate his partner, even going as far as to suggest he wanted to smother her with a pillow. However, this account was contradicted by WhatsApp messages presented during the hearing, in which Mascia apologized for his actions and discussed stress relief techniques, casting doubt on his version of events.

The victim’s mother also provided testimony, revealing that Mascia had admitted to mistreating her daughter and taking full responsibility for his actions. The evidence painted a clear picture of ongoing domestic abuse, which ultimately led to his dismissal from the police force. The tribunal emphasized that there is no place within the police service for officers who abuse their partners, and Mascia was dismissed without notice as a result of his misconduct.
