REECE ARMSTRONG OF LIVERPOOL WANTS TO START TRAMPOLINE LESSONS AFTER BREACHING SEX OFFENDERS RULES
In May 2021, a case was reported involving Reece Armstrong, a convicted paedophile from Liverpool, who expressed a desire to begin trampoline lessons, citing his interest in gymnastics. Armstrong, 25, currently spends most of his time in his bedroom at his family home. Liverpool Crown Court was informed by his defence lawyer that he hopes to partake in adult trampoline classes.Reece Armstrong was previously convicted in 2017 for grooming a child and attempting to meet up with a minor. Recently, he appeared in court after staying in the same residence as two young children for over 12 hours, which constituted a breach of the conditions set by his Sex Offenders Register (SORN) obligations.
Prosecutor Zahra Baqri explained that Armstrong’s 2017 conviction was for attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, with the incident occurring on November 21, 2017. She stated, “On that date in November he was sentenced to a 36-month community order with specific conditions, including participation in a sex offender programme. By virtue of that conviction, a notification requirement remained in place for 10 years.”
The notification requirement, part of the Sex Offenders Register, obliges Armstrong to inform police if he stays at an address with minors for more than 12 hours. Ms Baqri added that Armstrong had been in contact with his former partner, who had two young children from another man. She explained, “Enquiries reveal he had been staying at the address where she was present along with the two young children.”
He was arrested in November 2020, attended a voluntary police interview, and pleaded guilty at his first court appearance. Although this was his first breach, Ms Baqri noted that Armstrong was aware of his reporting obligations but “deliberately failed to comply.”
Armstrong, of St James Drive, Bootle, admitted breaching the terms of his Sex Offenders Register requirements. Judge Brian Cummings, QC, addressed the court during sentencing, remarking, “It does say on the document you were given at the time of sentence if you are in any doubt to check with your solicitor or police. I accept this is a first breach and I accept the circumstances in which it occurred.”
He was sentenced to an 18-month community order and ordered to complete 25 Rehabilitation Activity Requirements.
