REECE ANDERSON AND SHOCKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE IN ISLE OF WIGHT
A former youth football coach from the Isle of Wight has been sentenced to a suspended prison term and required to register as a sex offender after being found guilty of possessing indecent images of children.Reece Simon Anderson, aged 23 and residing on Vectis Road in East Cowes, appeared before Southampton Crown Court for sentencing on a Friday following his guilty plea to multiple charges.
The charges included three counts of possessing indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children, which comprised 25 images classified as Category A, 117 images as Category B, and 16 images as Category C.
Additionally, Anderson was convicted of possessing 13 Category A videos.
The investigation into Anderson’s devices began in October 2021 when police executed a search warrant at his accommodation in Southampton, where he was a student at Solent University.
During the search, authorities discovered a significant collection of over 170 indecent images and videos of varying severity levels stored on his devices.
The evidence revealed a disturbing pattern of illegal material, which led to his arrest and subsequent charges.
Public records and Anderson’s social media accounts indicated that he had been involved in youth football coaching since September 2018.
He had obtained an FA Level 1 coaching qualification in January 2020 and was actively engaged in coaching young players.
At the time of his arrest, Anderson was studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Football Studies, with a particular focus on youth development.
His aspirations included becoming an academy manager for a professional football club.
Following his conviction, Anderson was prohibited from working with children and young people.
The court, presided over by Recorder Gordon Bebb KC, handed down a six-month prison sentence, which was suspended for 18 months.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the next seven years and was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in effect for seven years.
Furthermore, Anderson was mandated to complete a Horizon rehabilitation programme, which includes 25 days of structured therapy aimed at addressing his offending behavior.
His electronic devices are to be destroyed as part of the court’s order to prevent further access to illegal material.
