Feb 2011 Paedophile remanded in custody over images A PAEDOPHILE who admitted having 252 indecent photos of children in his possession asked a court for psychiatric help. Raymond Scott, 62, of Dundonald Road, Ramsgate, admitted 13 counts of possessing indecent images of children at Canterbury Crown Court. Scott, who has white hair, looked shaky and lost his balance in the dock, has been remanded in custody since his arrest in December. Recorder Peter Gower QC heard that Scott was sent to prison in 2002 for similar offences. Defending, Phil Rowley said Scott was released from prison on licence and there was no requirement for him to have psychiatric assessment. Mr Rowley said: “He instructed a psychiatrist in Broadstairs and when that psychiatrist died suddenly he did not seek counselling elsewhere. “He was a working man and has a history of having a family and tried to live a decent life, but he has succumbed to temptation from his computer. “He has in his mind some kind of assessment for dangerousness and he is open to such intervention. He has been as candid as he could and has spoken of his difficulties.” Recorder Peter Gower granted Scott’s wish for a psychiatric assessment and he will be sentenced in April.
