RAYMOND JOHNSON OF ISLE OF WIGHT BREACHES SEX OFFENDERS' REGISTER AGAIN
In June 2022, Raymond Johnson, a resident of High Street, Sandown on the Isle of Wight, found himself back in trouble with the law after violating the conditions of his registration as a sex offender. This marked his second breach of the terms set out by the Sex Offenders' Register, specifically for failing to update authorities with a new bank card.
Johnson appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court to face charges related to this breach.
During the hearing, he admitted to the offence, which resulted in a financial penalty.
The court ordered him to pay a fine of £592, along with additional costs and a surcharge, reflecting the seriousness of his repeated non-compliance.
His criminal history is deeply troubling.
Johnson was previously found in possession of hundreds of indecent images depicting children being sexually abused.
These images included some of the most extreme and disturbing content, featuring children as young as one year old.
His offending was significant enough that, in May 2021, he was spared immediate imprisonment but was nonetheless placed on the Sex Offenders' Register with strict conditions.
Initially, Johnson breached one of these conditions by failing to inform police of his change of address, which led to a £30 fine.
Despite this earlier warning, he continued to violate the terms of his registration, culminating in the recent failure to register a new bank card.
Magistrates expressed their intention to impose harsher penalties for his second breach, which was reflected in the increased financial penalty handed down during this hearing.
The court's decision underscores the importance of compliance with sex offender registration requirements and highlights the ongoing efforts to monitor and control individuals with such serious criminal backgrounds on the Isle of Wight.
