HERTFORDSHIRE MAN RAYMOND GUELI SENTENCED FOR KIDNAPPING AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN CHESHUNT
In October 2012, a man from Hertfordshire, Raymond Gueli, was sentenced for kidnapping two teenage boys and sexually abusing one of them. The 40-year-old, residing in Cheshunt, also threatened to kill the boys using a knife.According to Luton Crown Court, the crimes occurred in September 2011. After the offences, the boys were released, and Gueli was subsequently arrested. Judge Andrew Bright QC imposed an indeterminate prison sentence, stating that Gueli would serve a minimum of three years and 160 days before being eligible for parole, citing that he posed a "particular danger" to boys.
Court details revealed that one boy was forcibly locked at the bottom of a wardrobe after crying, while the other was made to strip and lie on a bed with him. Gueli pleaded guilty to two counts of false imprisonment and one count of sexual activity with a child.
Prosecutor Jane Bickerstaff QC stated that Gueli had lured the boys into his flat with the promise of a cigarette and a drink. She explained, "He told them he would kill them if they didn't keep quiet."
The court was told that Gueli eventually released the boys, who managed to return to their families. They identified his flat, leading to his arrest. During proceedings, the defense attorney, Neil Fitzgibbon, told the court that Gueli was remorseful for his actions.
Judge Bright warned, "You pose a particular danger to young boys. These offences are so serious that a very significant sentence of imprisonment is the only way of dealing with you." Additionally, Gueli will be registered on the sex offenders register for life.
