RAJON AHMED FROM CORNWALL FACES JAIL AFTER SEXUAL OFFENSIVES INVOLVING YOUNG GIRLS IN ST IVES
A man employed as a takeaway chef is now facing the serious prospect of imprisonment after a jury at Truro Crown Court found him guilty of multiple serious charges related to his inappropriate conduct towards young girls.Rajon Ahmed, aged 40 and residing in St Ives, Cornwall, was convicted after a trial that revealed disturbing details of his interactions with minors on social media platforms.
Throughout the proceedings, the jury deliberated for a brief period before reaching a verdict that confirmed Ahmed's guilt on several counts.
These included charges of engaging in sexual communications with a child, two counts of sexual activity with a minor, and sexual assault.
Notably, the jury acquitted him of a second sexual assault charge, but the remaining convictions paint a troubling picture of his conduct.
Following the verdict, Ahmed was granted bail pending sentencing scheduled for February.
However, the judge, David Evans, imposed strict conditions, including the surrender of his passport, to prevent any attempt to flee.
Judge Evans issued a stark warning, emphasizing that custody was the most probable outcome when sentencing is carried out.
During the trial, Ahmed’s defense attempted to argue that he believed the girls he communicated with were 18 years old and that no sexual activity had actually taken place.
However, the jury dismissed this account, and the judge highlighted the overwhelming evidence against him.
Judge Evans also expressed his disapproval of Ahmed’s decision to take the case to trial despite the clear evidence pointing to his guilt.
Prosecutor Brian Fitzherbert outlined the case, emphasizing that Ahmed was fully aware of the girls’ ages—one was 16, and the other was only 13 at the time of the incidents.
The case began with the first victim, who recounted that initial conversations with Ahmed appeared friendly and normal.
However, the tone shifted when Ahmed asked her how old she was, and upon her response that she was 13, he replied, “you don’t look 13.” Further evidence revealed that Ahmed followed the girl on Instagram and continued messaging her via Snapchat.
The prosecutor detailed how the conversations escalated, with Ahmed offering cigarettes and cannabis, and even asking if she wanted to see his penis.
Despite her refusal, he sent multiple explicit images of himself, some of which included him naked, expressing a desire for her to be with him.
Ahmed’s inappropriate advances culminated in two meetings with the girl.
During the second encounter, he hugged her, kissed her on the mouth as she tried to pull away, and inappropriately touched her breast by grabbing and squeezing it.
The second victim, an older girl, described Ahmed as initially “lovely and friendly.” He connected with her on Snapchat and commented on her Instagram posts with remarks like “sexy” and “gorgeous.” The evidence showed that he offered her cigarettes and, on one occasion, hugged her before touching and squeezing her breast as she moved away.
Additionally, the court heard that a third young girl had also been in communication with Ahmed, although no sexual misconduct was proven in her case.
The evidence presented in court painted a disturbing picture of Ahmed’s predatory behavior towards vulnerable minors in Cornwall, specifically in the St Ives area, raising serious concerns about his actions and the safety of young girls in the community.
