MIDDLESBROUGH MAN GUILTY OF CREATING A CHILD INDECENT VIDEO

A man has been found guilty of creating an indecent image of a child.

Rahim Aleemzai denied producing a video classified as category A - the most severe category of indecent images.

However, after appearing in court in 2023, the 53-year-old was convicted following a trial.

Prosecutor Paul Newcombe stated: "The defendant was convicted on June 13 of this year of making an indecent image of a child.

The image was a category A image, it was viewed by the defendant in November 2021." The court heard that the image was a one-minute and 12-second moving video of the most serious category.

Aleemzai, previously considered to be of good character, downloaded the video four years prior, and there has been no suggestion that he has committed further offenses.

Judge Richard Bennett remarked that the video remained accessible on Aleemzai's phone and appeared to have originated from Facebook messenger.

The judge noted: "There is a suggestion that you distributed the video to others but it cannot be established to a criminal standard." He further stated: "This is a single video.

It was very unpleasant and very serious but in the context of a category A offense, what was depicted was not the most serious." Aleemzai, of Errol Street, Middlesbrough, was sentenced to a one-year community order, which includes 20 days of rehabilitation activities, and has been deprived of his mobile phone.
