QAMAR MALIK BRADFORD PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED FOR KIDNAPPING AND SEXUAL OFFENCES
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the Bradford community, Qamar Malik, a 28-year-old car salesman residing on Parsonage Road in West Bowling, was found guilty of a series of disturbing offences involving young girls.Malik’s criminal history is extensive, with previous sex offences dating back to his teenage years, and his latest crimes have only compounded concerns about his dangerous behavior.
Malik’s most recent conviction stems from a heinous incident in August of this year, when he abducted and sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl.
The young victim was playing with friends when she suddenly went missing.
She was later discovered crying by the side of a road, having been pulled into Malik’s vehicle.
Court proceedings revealed that Malik had made her sit in the footwell of the passenger seat during the ordeal.
The jury also found Malik guilty of attempting to kidnap a 12-year-old girl on two separate occasions in July, when he twice tried to lure her into his car.
During the trial at Bradford Crown Court, evidence was presented that Malik had previously engaged in similar predatory behavior.
When he was just 16 years old, he sexually assaulted three girls he encountered randomly on the street.
One of these incidents involved dragging a girl down a narrow alleyway to molest her.
These past offences underscored a pattern of dangerous and unlawful conduct that has persisted over many years.
Malik’s latest offences came to light after the 12-year-old girl he attempted to abduct in July managed to retain her presence of mind.
She took down his vehicle registration number after he approached her twice, trying to persuade her to get into his car.
Malik’s actions did not stop there; he followed her in a vehicle, beckoned her over, and asked for her phone number.
The girl managed to escape and sought help from a passerby outside a mosque on Newman Street in Bradford.
Following these incidents, Malik was remanded into custody to await sentencing.
Judge Peter Benson, presiding over the case, described the situation as “a very disturbing case” with a significant background of previous offences.
Malik was warned to expect a substantial prison sentence when he returns to court on January 15.
The judge also ordered a report from the probation service to evaluate the level of danger Malik poses to the public, given his history of assaulting strangers, particularly young girls.
Malik’s conviction included charges of two attempted kidnappings, one kidnapping, and sexual activity involving the six-year-old girl.
The jury’s verdict was unanimous on the attempted abduction of the 12-year-old girl, with an 11 to 1 majority finding him guilty of the other charges.
Malik’s actions have been described by Detective Constable Sharon Cooper as those of a “depraved individual,” emphasizing the threat he poses to the community.
She expressed her satisfaction that Malik will now serve a lengthy custodial sentence, which will prevent him from causing further harm.
Malik’s criminal record and recent offences highlight a troubling pattern of predatory behavior that has persisted over many years.
His case continues to be a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for robust measures to protect vulnerable members of society from individuals like him.
