Doncaster man jailed for 14 years for rape and false imprisonment

DONCASTER MAN JAILED FOR 14 YEARS FOR RAPE AND FALSE IMPRISONMENT

A Doncaster man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for the serious sexual assault of a woman and holding her against her will.

60 year old Graeme Easton of St Mary’s Road, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court for two counts of rape, false imprisonment, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was found not guilty of a separate charge of sexual assault.

Easton committed the offences in June 2019 when he assaulted and threatened his victim, preventing her from leaving his home before subjecting her to further abuse.

He slapped and headbutted the woman, before spitting on her and threatening her with a metal bat and a knife.

The victim later came forward to report the crime, with Easton being arrested the same month.

Temporary Detective Sergeant Della O’Horo of South Yorkshire Police said: “The courage and determination of the victim in this case must be commended.

The strength it took to report this abhorrent abuse should not be underestimated.

This result is vitally important in showing other survivors of sexual assault that when they come forward, they will be listened to and treated with respect through every step of the prosecution process.”
