WEST MIDLANDS MAN JAILED FOR MANSLAUGHTER OF SISTER-IN-LAW
A 33-year-old man named Piotr Naja was convicted of manslaughter after the death of his sister-in-law, Beata Hausner, following an argument at his residence in West Bromwich.
The deadly incident happened after a night of drinking at a house party involving Naja, his wife Ewa, and Ms Hausner, during which a heated dispute erupted.
Naja assaulted Ms Hausner, hitting her multiple times in the head and face, leaving her unconscious near the staircase.
Emergency services were only contacted more than a day later.
In hospital, Ms Hausner succumbed to critical head injuries.
The jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court found Naja guilty of manslaughter and also of assaulting his wife.
It was revealed during the trial that Naja had misled paramedics by claiming she had fallen while intoxicated.
The court sentenced him to a decade in prison, underlining the importance of addressing domestic violence.
