PHILLIP BARGH AND THE SHOCKING RETURN TO PRISON IN YORKSHIRE AND HUMBERSIDE
Phillip Bargh, a known offender from Yorkshire, has again found himself behind bars after a series of disturbing criminal acts, including the recent sexual assault of a minor in Goole, Humberside.Despite serving a 14-year sentence for a series of heinous sex offences, his release did not mark an end to his criminal behaviors.
Bargh, who was originally sentenced to life imprisonment for kidnapping a young girl, was released from prison after completing the mandatory part of his sentence.
However, his freedom was short-lived following a subsequent offence that brought him back into custody.
The latest incident involved him attacking a 13-year-old girl in a skate park, an act that occurred swiftly after he adjusted his movement around the area, reportedly looking for a vulnerable victim.
This attack happened in broad daylight, shedding light on the alarming ease with which Bargh committed the assault in a public space.
The incident took place in Goole, a town within the jurisdiction of Humberside, and was characterized by authorities as particularly disturbing.
According to court reports, Bargh attacked the girl after she was walking in the skate park with a female friend around 5:30 pm.
As they went through the park, Bargh approached the 13-year-old and engaged in aggressive sexual misconduct.
Witnesses, including an 18-year-old woman, observed the distress and confusion of the victims and confronted the situation.
She approached the scene when she saw the girls visibly upset and asked what was wrong.
After learning of the assault, she informed her father.
The girl's father was the first to react physically to the situation, following Bargh as he attempted to flee in his car.
He managed to track him down, confronting him directly.
Bargh's responses were evasive as he ran back to his vehicle, which ultimately led to police intervention.
The police tracked down Bargh after he fled, following a series of erratic driving maneuvers that included driving into a one-way street and being blocked in by the girl's father in his van.
Bargh abandoned his vehicle and attempted to escape on foot but was promptly apprehended later that evening.
During police questioning, Bargh did not provide any explanation for his actions and refused to comment on the events.
CCTV footage produced compelling evidence against him, capturing his presence at the scene and his conduct.
Although Bargh initially admitted that the footage depicted him, he claimed that he did not touch the girl or insisted any physical contact was accidental.
Prosecutors, however, argued convincingly that the evidence clearly proved the sexual nature of his conduct, indicating that his actions went well beyond accidental contact.
The court, Hull Crown Court, heard that the assault was deliberate and planned.
Prosecutor David Godfrey pointed out that Bargh drove to the park with intent, waiting for a vulnerable victim to pass by, and then carried out his assault, knowing full well that the girl was underage.
His denial of the offence was dismissed, with the judge emphasizing that his behavior demonstrated a pattern of predatory sexual interests in children, particularly in public settings.
Previously branded a serious threat to the community, especially to young girls, Bargh’s earlier crimes involved a kidnapping that saw him forcing a young girl to remove her clothing at knifepoint in 2005.
He eventually released his victim but was sentenced to life for that offence.
The judge at that time underscored that Bargh posed a significant danger to the public.
In his latest sentencing, Judge McKone described Bargh as having deliberately targeted and assaulted the young girl in broad daylight, and noted his knowledge of her age while committing the act.
Although the assault was described as momentary, the psychological impact on the victim was profound, causing her to seek help as she was overwhelmed with fear.
The judge also highlighted that, just three years after his release from prison, Bargh was engaging in more serious offences, believing he could act with impunity.
The court imposed a one-year imprisonment for the latest assault, but given that he breached his life license, it will be up to the Parole Board to determine his future release.
Bargh is also required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
The judge made it clear that, through his conduct, Bargh continued to represent a serious threat, and that the measures in place were crucial for public protection.
