PETER WILSON FROM SEVENOAKS CAUGHT WITH CHILD SEX ABUSE VIDEOS IN MERSEYSIDE HOTEL
In May 2022, authorities uncovered a disturbing collection of child abuse videos linked to Peter Wilson, a known sex offender originally from Sevenoaks. The footage included a half-hour film depicting Wilson himself molesting a young girl, a revelation that shocked the court and highlighted the severity of his crimes.Wilson, aged 32, had moved to Merseyside after his release from prison and subsequently went into hiding. His whereabouts were eventually traced to a hotel in Litherland, where police located him. During the investigation, officers discovered that Wilson had downloaded and possessed highly disturbing files, including a video showing a baby being raped. The description of this footage left a judge speechless when it was presented in court. Further evidence revealed that Wilson had also recorded himself sexually abusing a young girl, then turning to the camera to show his face, further implicating him in these heinous acts.
Wilson’s criminal history dates back to September 2018, when he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for attempting to incite children to engage in sexual activities, as well as for downloading and distributing indecent images of children. He was released from incarceration in December 2019. However, within six months, authorities in Kent identified that child sex abuse images had been uploaded to Skype from an IP address registered to his home in Sevenoaks. This led to a police raid on June 10, 2020, during which officers seized electronic devices and questioned Wilson and his father.
During the raid, Wilson claimed he had been sent “links” by a group called Pridefall, which, according to prosecutor Max Saffman, was “a group that disrupts the LGBTQ community.” The police confiscated Honor and Nokia mobile phones. The Honor phone contained 140 illegal files, including 27 Category A indecent images— the most serious classification— depicting children as young as five being raped. Wilson was subsequently recalled to prison on license but was released again in March 2021. Despite this, he went missing, and Kent Police were unable to locate him for some time.
Wilson was finally arrested by Merseyside Police at a hotel on Linacre Road on December 21. Under the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), he was required to inform authorities about his digital devices. However, he only handed over one Alcatel mobile phone and failed to mention a Nokia handset hidden under his pillow, claiming, “I forgot that one was there.” The Nokia phone revealed that Wilson had shared ten child sex abuse files, including images of rape, with five online accounts via Kik Messenger and Wickr Me. Over a period of three months, he downloaded 338 illegal files, 48 of which were Category A images.
Prosecutor Saffman described one particularly disturbing video, classified as Category A, which showed a baby girl aged between six and twelve months being raped. The courtroom fell silent upon hearing this description. The case also included evidence of a 32-minute video showing Wilson abusing a child, which he was not charged with because the incident occurred abroad and outside the jurisdiction. Nevertheless, the court considered this footage when assessing Wilson’s dangerousness.
Wilson admitted to multiple charges, including possessing and downloading indecent images related to the Kent investigation, breaching his SHPO, and possessing and distributing illegal images during the Merseyside raid. The court also noted that Wilson confirmed the existence of the 32-minute abuse video, which showed him abusing a child and facing the camera at the end of the clip. Although he was not charged for this specific activity, the judge emphasized that it was a significant factor in assessing his risk.
Judge Brian Cummings, QC, described the content of the videos as “unspeakable,” particularly highlighting the baby rape footage, which involved a child who was extremely young and vulnerable. The judge condemned Wilson’s actions, stating that such offenses cause serious harm to defenseless children and contribute to a market that sustains this illegal activity on an industrial scale.
He further pointed out the disturbing fact that the video showing Wilson abusing a young child was a clear indication of his dangerousness. The court heard Wilson confirmed his identity in the video, reinforcing the assessment that he posed a significant threat.
In sentencing, Judge Cummings imposed a five-year prison term, with an extended eight-year license period. This means Wilson must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence—approximately three years and four months—before being eligible for parole. However, his release will depend on the Parole Board’s judgment of whether he remains a risk. If released, he will remain on license for the remaining duration of the extended period. Any subsequent offending could result in his immediate return to prison for the full term of his sentence and license period, underscoring the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses.
